“Founded in August 1924” Trinity Baptist Church’s story begins not in a grand cathedral but in a humble mission hall. Fifteen visionary souls gathered there dreaming of a church that would serve the Fenkell-Livernois district. That small group laid the foundation for what Trinity Baptist Church is today.

Initially known as Olivet Baptist Church they soon discovered a name conflict. A swift change to Trinity was necessary to avoid confusion. Their first worship space wasn’t a stately edifice either. It was a simple store room. Later services were held above the Fenkell Theatre. It wasn’t until December 11 1927 that they moved to their current location. This highlights the church’s humble beginnings and its persistent growth.

The 1960s marked a significant turning point. Trinity Baptist Church embarked on an interracial ministry. This was a bold and forward-thinking step. Several leaders including Frank Camper Norm Mathais Ken Hampton and others are remembered for their contributions during this era. They fostered incredible spiritual development within the youth. These individuals were vital in shaping the church’s inclusive identity.

For twenty-six years Reverend Doctor Lyle M Adams served as pastor. His strong faith and vision inspired the congregation. The church’s former Indiana location now stands as a tribute to his legacy named the Dr Lyle M Adams Activity Building. This enduring legacy speaks to the impact of his pastoral leadership.

Pastor Hollis M Evans followed serving for thirty-six years. In 2018 he became Pastor Emeritus. Pastor Maurice A Flaniken took the reins as interim pastor in 2017. He was later elected as the current senior pastor in January 2018. The leadership transition reflects the church’s continuous adaptation. It has persevered throughout decades of changing times.

Trinity Baptist Church remains a vibrant community. It celebrates its ministries outreach programs and its Farr Park Development. Their unwavering faith commitment and community engagement continue to enrich the lives of many. This story is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a testament to the power of faith resilience and unwavering service. The church stands as a beacon of hope and community. It’s a place where the spirit thrives and lives are transformed.
