Kunst im Kreuzviertel invites you to experience art from entirely new perspectives. This gallery seeks to break free from conventional ways of seeing and experiencing art.
Founded by a team that evolved from the Produzentengalerie, Kunst im Kreuzviertel e.V. is a new concept. It welcomes everyone to participate. The aim is to create structures. It sets new goals for art in this community.

Birgit Brinkmann-Grempel, a key member, envisioned an even freer space. However, the gallery’s size presented some limitations. Yet, the focus remains on creating an engaging environment. An environment where visitors feel welcome.
The gallery has diverse artworks. These include paintings, graphics, and photography. There are also collages and fabric art. A white paper dress floats ethereally. A large mobile greets everyone at the entrance. Brinkmann describes the collection as varied. She herself contributed an installation. It features painted plexiglass sheets in the storefront window.
The hanging style of the art is part of the exhibit. The art is not static. It feels liberating. It encourages visitors to open up to new perspectives. This approach also marks a fresh start for the artists involved.
Kunst im Kreuzviertel also aims to involve more people. They want to distribute tasks and broaden artistic viewpoints. They plan to include younger artists. They are also developing programs for children and teens.

Past exhibitions include “OHDUFRÖHLICHE” and “SPOTLIGHT PEEK-A-BOO”. These shows display a range of media. Media include painting, photography, graphics and objects. “Das kleine Schwarze” featured Dortmund artists. “VOYAGE” showcased Barbara Giesbert and Wendy Wendrikat. The gallery also hosts special events like “LICHT AN”. This show transforms the gallery with light installations.
