What if I told you a church started in a living room? Right here, at Las Vegas Christian Center, that’s exactly how the story began. Pastors Dana and Cheryl Everage, fresh from their ministry training, felt a pull towards the vibrant city of Las Vegas. In 2005, they began a humble bible study in a friend’s home, flying in from Los Angeles for six months. Las Vegas Christian Center’s foundation was built on these gatherings. By January 2006, the Everages were driving to Vegas twice a month, holding Sunday evening services in their own living room. They made Las Vegas their permanent home by June of that year. The early days of Las Vegas Christian Center saw services in a small hotel. Things didn’t quite work out there, so they moved to a banquet hall near Charleston and Rainbow. This provided a more stable location, giving them office space and a place to hold services. Three years later, they moved again. This time, they found a spot on Craig Road near Simmons in North Las Vegas. Las Vegas Christian Center thrived in this location. They had room for children’s classes, offices, a sanctuary, and all their other needs. This location also sparked a vision in Pastor Everage’s heart: helping other developing churches. They began sharing the space with two Spanish-speaking congregations. Las Vegas Christian Center’s impact extended beyond its walls. They built relationships with a local elementary school, volunteering, mentoring, and tutoring. They hosted Church in the Park events, Christmas food drives, and even a Men’s Health Awareness Seminar at the Pearson Community Center. The church also used creative outreach methods, including puppets and games for children. They partnered with Save the City for community clean-up and worked with Convoy of Hope to feed the community. In 2017, Las Vegas Christian Center underwent a relaunch. They focused on leadership training, refreshed the church’s interior, and aimed to welcome new members. An interesting observation emerged: the majority of the congregation was women. This led Pastor Everage, now Chaplain Everage, to a new ministry, taking God’s word into prisons. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020, drastically changing how church services were conducted. Las Vegas Christian Center adapted by live-streaming midweek services. This challenging time highlighted the importance of teaching God’s word, a core value that sustained them. The Las Vegas Christian Center continues to evolve. They face new challenges, but their commitment to their vision remains strong. They invite everyone to join their community, sharing in their ongoing story. You can experience Las Vegas Christian Center yourself. Join them for praise and worship at 9:30 am and the teaching of God’s Word at 10:00 am every Sunday, or stream their Wednesday service at 7:30 pm.
