Established on November 11, 1956, Trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP.HCM has a rich history. Originally named Go Vap Vocational School, it was founded by the Salesians of Don Bosco. Imagine this bustling university, then a small vocational school, nestled in Go Vap District. The school’s focus was practical training. It offered courses to equip students with essential skills for various industries. Over time, Trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP.HCM expanded its programs. In 1968, it became the Don Bosco Technical Schools, Go Vap, offering both junior and secondary level technical education. The university continued to evolve, becoming the Don Bosco High Technical Schools in 1970. After the reunification of Vietnam, the government requisitioned the campus in 1975. It was placed under the General Department of Metallurgy Engineering and Electronics. The name changed again in 1978 to School Worker Technical Four. Trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP.HCM continued its growth, merging with the Secondary School of Chemical in Bien Hoa in 1994, further solidifying its role in technical education. In 1999, the institution transitioned to College Industry Four. The pivotal moment arrived on December 24, 2004. Trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP.HCM officially became a university under the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Today, Trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP.HCM stands as a testament to its enduring mission. It boasts three campuses. The main campus is here, at 12 Nguyen Van Bao Street. The other two are in Quang Ngai and Thanh Hoa. With approximately 129,000 students in 2011, the university plays a vital role in Vietnam’s higher education landscape. Trường Đại học Công nghiệp TP.HCM has also earned recognition internationally. In 2020, it was ranked among the top 650 Asian universities by QS World University Rankings. It also engages in international student exchange programs. Partners include universities in the US, Germany, Israel, Korea, Belgium, Japan, Laos, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
