Founded in 1865 West of Scotland Football Club is more than just a rugby club. It’s a living legend. This club in Milngavie near Glasgow boasts a rich history. It’s one of the oldest rugby clubs in the world. West of Scotland was even a founding member of the Scottish Rugby Union.

The club faced challenges. It experienced a decline after the formation of the official SRU leagues. West of Scotland even had the opportunity to merge with other clubs. This would have created Glasgow Hawks. The club chose to remain independent.

But the spirit of West of Scotland wasn’t broken. A resurgence came in 2006 with a win in the Scottish Shield. Promotions followed. The club rose to Premiership Division One. Former players like Gordon Bulloch returned to the club.

In 2015 West of Scotland celebrated its 150th anniversary. All three senior men’s teams were promoted. A celebratory game against Glasgow Academicals marked the occasion.
