“Can you feel that energy?” our tour guide whispered, a mischievous twinkle in his eye. “That’s the spirit of Abundant Life Church, and believe me, it has a story to tell!” Right here, at the corner of Denver and St. Anthony in Denver Heights, Abundant Life Church first took root in 1976. This wasn’t always the mega-church you see today. It was a humble beginning, full of heart and the tireless efforts of Pastor Neftalí Ozuna. Imagine the spirit back then, as the church began to flourish in this vibrant community. The church’s journey wasn’t always easy. It saw pastors come and go, each leaving their own unique mark on the community. But it wasn’t until Abundant Life Church found its new home in Southeast San Antonio in 2000 that things truly began to transform. Under the guidance of Pastors Eliezer and Dorcas Bonilla, the church blossomed. What was once a congregation of 200 blossomed into a beacon of faith for 1,800, spreading its wings with two locations: Abundant Life South and Abundant Life North. Abundant Life Church isn’t just about Sunday service. It’s about reaching out, touching lives, and making a difference. They have cell groups woven throughout the city, dedicated to sharing the word and nurturing new believers. And their compassion knows no bounds. With their “Compassion San Antonio” initiative, they provide food and clothing to 300 families every single week. Now, that’s what I call living the abundant life!
