Suddenly before us rises the SAFAD Building a place of art and design. It stands on the Talamban Campus of the University of San Carlos. This is one of the newest and prettiest buildings here.

The SAFAD Building was formerly known as the CAFA building. Its parking lot leads to the main entrance on the left side. The right side holds thesis rooms and student council spaces. Classrooms for SAFAD students occupy the upper floors on the left.

The building’s designer achieved Summa Cum Laude from CAFA now SAFAD. He is a thesis panelist. He chose a minimalist design following “less is more”. The SAFAD Building is simple yet aesthetically pleasing to the students and visitors.

The triangle symbol represents SAFAD students. It is most famous during the Intramural days. SAFAD is likely the only USC college with its own symbol. You can even make the symbol with your hands unlike other college symbols.

The SAFAD Building enjoys one of the best city views. It sits on high ground in Talamban Campus. A SAFAD student said they come here when stressed. The view offers a stress-relieving escape.

From the higher floors look for the church. You can see its cross. A beige building in the middle left is another USC college.

In 2023 the USC School of Architecture and Fine Arts opened the Digital Modeling and Production Studio here. Dean Ar. Margret Rosario led the opening. The Architecture Computer Center manages the studio. They handle upkeep and operations.

Graphisoft a software company gave ARCHICAD license to Ar. Vangie Cheryl Ulila. She uses it for CHERISH’s conservation work.

USC President Fr. Narciso A. Cellan Jr. and other USC leaders attended the opening. Ar. Anne Nacorda and Dr. Felma Aliño also joined. IDr. Adrian Del Monte and Engr. James Toledo were present too. The Digital Modeling and Production Studio is open to SAFAD students, the USC community and the public. Appointments are needed through +63 32 401 2300 local 210.

The SAFAD Building hosts the SAFAD Design Exhibit and Awards. It is held with SM Seaside City Cebu. This celebrates National Arts Month. Student works are displayed for the public. Architectural art and design fill the space. Come experience the pride of the School of Architecture Fine Arts and Design.

The SAFAD Building is more than just a structure. It is a hub of creativity learning and inspiration. It is a place where future architects and artists hone their skills. They shape the world around us. The SAFAD Building stands as a testament to their talent and dedication.
