Imagine the bustling activity here in 1953. Construction began on a design by Robert Maillart. By 1954, the Pont de Lancy was complete. This bridge became a vital artery. It carries traffic from Lancy towards Pont Butin.
Now picture convoys of exceptional weight attempting to cross. Originally, the bridge had a limit of 90 tons. In 1998, the Grand Conseil genevois approved a project. This CHF 7.5 million project reinforced the structure. The bridge could then handle vehicles weighing up to 240 tons. This upgrade was essential for the region’s logistical needs.
