What if I told you that this humble farmhouse, Cascina Rancate, has witnessed centuries of Milanese history? Cascina Rancate sits in the municipality of San Giuliano Milanese. It is southwest of the town center. It lies beyond the Autostrada del Sole and south of the Tangenziale Ovest.

Cascina Rancate is a place of ancient origin. It has always been linked to the Milanese territory. The community belonged to the parish of San Giuliano. It bordered Civesio to the north, Viboldone to the east, Videserto to the south, and Sesto Ulteriano to the west. The 1751 census recorded 170 residents in Cascina Rancate.

Under Napoleon in 1805, the population fell to 139. In 1809, the Municipality of Rancate was suppressed. It was annexed to the municipality of Viboldone. However, it regained autonomy in 1816 after the establishment of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Veneto.

The Austrians recognized the rationality of Napoleon’s work in 1841. The Municipality of Rancate was again annexed to Viboldone. Cascina Rancate then followed its fate over time.

In 1923, King Vittorio Emanuele III visited Cascina Rancate. It was shown as an example of an agricultural model. The king planted a tree here.

Today, Cascina Rancate stands as a testament to rural architecture. It serves as both a residence and a site for agricultural production. The property is privately owned. Its story echoes through the fields and buildings. It reminds us of the enduring connection between land, people, and history. Cascina Rancate stands as a silent witness, guarding the secrets of bygone eras.
