Founded in 1950 the Rock of Ages Baptist Church stands as a testament to faith and community. It began humbly in the Old Lycem Hall in Maywood with just two members Reverend Thomas H Wade Sr’s wife and son. Despite its small beginnings the church had a clear purpose: to uplift the community’s most vulnerable members.

Under Reverend Wade’s guidance the Rock of Ages Baptist Church grew significantly. It moved to a larger building at 1642 S 15th Avenue still in Maywood. His dedication laid the foundation for the church’s future success.

Following Reverend Wade’s passing Reverend Marvin E Wiley took the reins. He brought new energy and vision. The church flourished under his leadership. Membership exploded growing from 400 to over 4000.

This growth led to the construction of a magnificent multi-million dollar edifice at the original location. This wasn’t just a building it was a symbol of the church’s impact on the community. It provided spiritual support but also addressed emotional financial physical and social needs.

A significant aspect of Rock of Ages Baptist Church’s ministry is Vision of Restoration Inc a 501c3 organization. It aims to help people in Maywood and surrounding areas rebuild their lives. The church’s influence extended beyond Maywood. In 2003 a Saturday night service began in Bolingbrook Illinois to serve members and residents in Chicago’s western suburbs.

The T H Wade Foundation Center a four-story facility opened in 2004. This impressive 40000 square foot building provides resources for training education and business endeavors. It stands as a powerful testament to the Rock of Ages Baptist Church’s enduring legacy. Today the Rock of Ages Baptist Church continues to serve its community with unwavering faith and dedication. It is a beacon of hope and a symbol of resilience. The church shows a profound commitment to its mission. It has served as an inspiring force in the lives of many.
