Established in 1908 Saint Brigid Parish served the City Point neighborhood. It began as a mission church of Gate of Heaven Parish. Nearly 100 years later both parishes united. This strengthened their ability to serve South Boston. The combined parishes share an administration. Their office is at 841 East Broadway. Two priests currently reside at the St Brigid Gate of Heaven Rectory. They are Fr Casey the pastor and Fr Peter the parochial vicar. Monsignor Liam Bergin a priest from Ireland assists them. Many other priests help meet the community’s needs. Saint Brigid Church offers many programs. These include religious education and sacramental preparation. The St Vincent de Paul Society and CYO basketball are also available. The South Boston Catholic Academy is a parish school. It provides a strong Catholic education.
