Established in 1982, the Garden of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ has blossomed in the heart of Houston. This church isn’t just a building. It’s a vibrant testament to faith, community, and the power of connection. Pastor Timothy L. Gaines Sr. and his wife, Evangelist Angel D. Gaines, have nurtured this garden for an incredible 40 years. Their leadership has guided the Garden of Gethsemane, fostering growth and love within its walls and beyond. The Garden of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ isn’t just a local church. It’s a part of the Church of God in Christ International, one of the world’s largest Pentecostal organizations. This connection adds a global dimension to the church’s mission. The church’s vision is beautifully encapsulated in three words: Connect. Grow. Love. These words are more than a slogan. They are the guiding principles that shape every aspect of the church’s work, from Sunday services to community outreach programs. Imagine joining the congregation for a Sunday service. Sunday School begins at 9:30 AM, followed by the main worship service at 11:00 AM. Even if you can’t make it in person, you can still connect with the Garden of Gethsemane virtually. Tuesday Bible Study and Friday Pastoral Teaching are held via Zoom, offering a digital space for spiritual growth and learning. The Garden of Gethsemane Church of God in Christ has always been deeply rooted in community service. Over the years, they’ve extended their branches to embrace various community-based projects. They’ve supported the Angel Tree Foundation, bringing joy to children of incarcerated parents. They’ve nourished their neighbors through the “Each One, Reach One” feeding program, providing meals to residents in P.G. County and D.C. communities. Recognizing the importance of education, the church actively participates in the “Back 2 School Supply Drive.” This initiative ensures that hundreds of local children and youth have the necessary supplies for a successful school year.
