Fancy attending a fiesta? San Isidro Talamban Parish celebrates the feast of St. Isidore the Laborer every May 15. It is a vibrant celebration of faith and community.

Welcome to San Isidro Talamban Parish. This Roman Catholic church has been a cornerstone of the Talamban community in Cebu City since 1958. For 66 years locals have worshipped here.

Father Veronico S. Salvador founded San Isidro Talamban Parish. He also established the Academia de San Isidro Labrador. The land where the church stands was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Sofrono Borbajo and family.

Notice the small fenced plaza in the courtyard as you approach San Isidro Talamban Parish. In the middle is a bust of Father Veronico Salvador. It honors his life and contributions.

As you ascend the staircase, observe the portico. Columns support it. The barrel vault ceiling adds to the architectural charm. This portico is a later addition to the original design.

Inside San Isidro Talamban Parish, light streams through cross and round windows. These windows sit above the main nave. The gate railings serve as walls for the extended side aisles.

Look for the stained glass walls. They depict St. Isidro Labrador and Our Lady of the Forsaken. These are placed on opposite sides of the church.

The church has undergone several renovations. The communal rail was removed. The sanctuary was enlarged after a typhoon damaged the roof. The altar has also been changed multiple times.

San Isidro Labrador Parish is part of the Vicariate of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. This includes seven other parishes in Cebu. These parishes include Guba Parish and Capitol Parish.

The secondary patron of San Isidro Talamban Parish is the Virgin de los Desamparados. This translates to Our Lady of the Forsaken.

St. Isidore the Laborer was a Spanish tenant farmer and laborer. He is often shown with a shovel and sometimes a carabao. Pope Gregory XV canonized him on March 12 1622.

San Isidro Talamban Parish continues to be a place of faith and community. It offers multiple masses throughout the week. The parish office is open daily except for the second Tuesday of each month. Confession is available after Mass.
