The building is named for Dr Charles E Beury. He served as Temple’s second president from 1926 to 1941. Prior to his presidency he was a trustee for 13 years. His impressive background included banking law the clergy and business. He was a true Renaissance man. He was a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School. Even after retiring as president he continued to serve on the Board of Trustees until 1952. He held the title of trustee-emeritus until his death in 1953.
