Since 1958 Gärtnerei Haase has been a fixture in Berlin. It’s more than just a garden center. It’s a living testament to family dedication. Generations have tended its soil. Gärtnerei Haase has witnessed Berlin’s evolution. From humble beginnings it has blossomed.
The Gärtnerei Haase story began with Siegfried Haase. He and his mother took over a small operation. Only two greenhouses existed then. They sold only what they grew. Sourcing plants elsewhere was impossible in those days. This instilled a deep appreciation for local produce. The Gärtnerei Haase ethos was born here.
Later the business expanded. An adjoining field was cultivated. It was planted with fir trees Douglas firs and red oaks. Old trees along the cemetery paths were replaced. New trees included firs spruces and larches. The growth reflected Berlin’s own resilience.
The Gärtnerei Haase faced challenges. Two living areas were sacrificed for a mortuary in the late 1960s. A barn was renovated to provide housing. Gärtnerei Haase adapted. It grew and thrived despite hardship. The family adapted to change. The gardens continued to flourish.
In 1961 new regulations impacted vegetable production. Gärtnerei Haase responded. The soil was improved using clay manure and peat. Excellent yields resulted. Gärtnerei Haase’s dedication to quality shone through.
Today Gärtnerei Haase works on a large area. Approximately 8000 square meters are dedicated to cultivation. Around 20000 bedding and balcony plants are produced annually. A modern greenhouse and outdoor space allow for a wide range of sales. A spacious binding room is primarily used for funeral arrangements.
Gärtnerei Haase’s services are diverse. They now include garden design pond construction balcony planting and interior landscaping. Gärtnerei Haase has earned a reputation for excellence. It holds a quality mark for cemetery gardening since 1994. This is a testament to a family’s passion. Gärtnerei Haase is more than a business. It is a Berlin institution. It is a legacy of resilience and growth.
