The Hongji Bridge first appeared in the Prefecture Topography of Huzhou a document dating back to the Ming Dynasty. This shows the bridge’s existence before 1644. Local people rebuilt the Hongji Bridge in 1805 during the Qing Dynasty. This act of renewal highlights its importance to the community.
