Alabonson Park spans 50 acres. It serves as a youth sports complex and a flood mitigation area. White Oak Bayou flows nearby. The park was made possible by grants. These came from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the Qatar Harvey Fund.
Imagine this park before 2019. It was just an idea. Then, construction began on August 5, 2019. This transformation turned the area into a family-centric venue. Now, people enjoy soccer, football, and softball games.
Alabonson Park offers a lot. There are lighted soccer, softball, and football fields. Parking lots are available. Maintenance facilities keep the park running smoothly. Picnic areas invite families to gather. Playgrounds offer fun for kids. Paved multi-use trails and natural surface trails wind through the park. These trails might one day connect to other trail systems along White Oak Bayou.
You will find sports fields. There are four baseball or softball fields. There is one regulation soccer field and a practice field. A football field is also here. A pavilion offers picnic tables. A concession stand provides refreshments. A community meeting room hosts local gatherings. Do not miss the butterfly garden.
The State of Qatar contributed to the park. The Qatar Harvey Fund donated $3.3 million. This money was for constructing eight soccer fields in Harris County. Five of these fields are in Precinct 1, and three are in Precinct 4. These soccer fields are designed as water collection basins. They help mitigate future flooding. Alabonson Park received $1.3 million from this gift.

Harris County Precinct 1 Parks Department manages Alabonson Park. They handle sports team activities. They take care of reservations. They oversee the park’s operation. The Precinct 1 Parks Department is responsible for all activities here.
The park’s amenities are impressive. Kuo & Associates provided civil engineering design services. This included grading the park property. They designed a new parking lot. They carefully planned the paving, drainage, and sanitary and water lines. Concrete and asphalt trails wind through the park.
