“Life can be beautiful with Jesus Christ.” New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church holds fast to this motto. The words encapsulate its spirit.

Imagine Detroit. Picture the corner of Linden Avenue and Willow Street. It is not just an intersection. It is a testament to faith. It is home to New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church.

New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church began humbly. A small mission of eight members started it all in April 1970. Sis Jones and her husband were among those eight. They met in homes for prayer and Bible study. They needed a bigger place. The YWCA opened its doors. Sunday Morning Worship continued. The church needed a name and a pastor. The committee decided on New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church.

In August 1970 Reverend Arthur E. Mills Jr became the pastor. In December 1970 New Corinth was established as a church by Reverend L.J. Jordan with 25 members. The church grew. In 1972 Mrs Mollie Roby donated two acres of land. It was at the corner of Linden Ave and Willow St. The members purchased a building. On September 17 1972 they worshipped in their new church. In 1974 the church installed a wayside bulletin board along with trees.

New Corinth saw the creation of many auxiliaries. The Angel Choir was established in 1974. Women’s Day began in March 1976. The Consecrated Choir was established in 1977. The Mother’s Board was established in 1980. The Lord continued to bless New Corinth. Groundbreaking for a new edition began in 1993.

Pastor Mills led for 42 years. In December 2015 Reverend Marshaundus Robinson became the pastor. The church matured under Reverend Robinson. In April 2019 the Deacon Board took care of the church. Reverend Troy Starks began preaching.

On Saturday June 26 2021 Reverend Troy Starks became the pastor. New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church continues to grow. It is a place of faith and community.
