This trail offers a unique chance to experience this precious habitat. We will walk through a landscape shaped by long dry seasons. Amazingly adapted plants and animals thrive here.
Look closely. You might spot a majestic Ceiba tree its branches reaching for the sky. Or a Macondo its twisted form telling silent stories of resilience. Keep your eyes peeled for the resbalamonos and the caracolíes. These trees have unique names and fascinating stories. Their survival in this harsh environment is a testament to nature’s tenacity.
But the real star of the Sendero Bosque Seco Tropical is a tiny creature the cotton-top tamarin. This squirrel-sized primate is endemic to the region. It is sadly endangered. Seeing one here would be a truly special moment. Remember to be quiet and respectful of their habitat.
Our walk will take around 3.5 hours. The trail itself is between 3.2 and 5 miles long. We’ll traverse undulating terrain. There are shallow streams to cross. Be prepared for some rocky patches and perhaps some mud. This is a moderate hike suitable for most fitness levels but remember comfortable shoes and clothing are essential.
