How about a journey through time? We are standing before SV Borussia Hannover. It is more than just a sports club. SV Borussia Hannover is a tapestry woven from dedication. It is woven from community and athletic spirit.

The story of SV Borussia Hannover begins long ago. It begins in the late 19th century. Imagine Vahrenwald buzzing with activity. Three clubs shaped the sporting landscape. There was Männerturnverein Vahrenwald. There was SV Borussia. And there was SV Union.

These clubs thrived until the Second World War. Then everything changed. All three clubs lost their homes. But Vahrenwald’s spirit could not be extinguished. Responsible men decided to create a lasting club. They were Heinrich and Albert Thoms. They were Heinrich Tegtmeyer and Willi Schweda. They were Hermann Bermsdorf.

In 1945, they founded Turn- und Sportverein Hannover-Nord. A year later, the club reclaimed its historic name. It became Sport-Verein Borussia von 1895. But a new problem emerged. They needed a sports facility.

Karl Müllerke secured land by the canal in 1949. This location was perfect for the Vahrenwald community. Construction was slow due to lack of funds. The land sloped steeply toward Vahrenwalderstraße. Debris from wartime destruction was used to level the ground. Soil dredged from the canal became the topsoil.

In 1955, the A-Platz was inaugurated. This was marked with a youth game between Hannover and Hamburg. The golden age arrived in 1961. The first team was promoted to the Amateur Oberliga. Seven thousand fans watched the game against SV Arminia Hannover. The team almost exclusively consisted of players from their own youth ranks. In 1965, the new clubhouse opened. The sports facility was completed except for minor details.

The football section is the oldest and main section of SV Borussia Hannover. Over the years other sections were added. The club’s song reflects the importance of football. Men’s teams were the first. Now women are an integral part of the club. SV Borussia Hannover is proud of its young talents. They learn to play football in various teams. Both boys and girls benefit from this.

André Breitenreiter played in the youth team. He later became the coach of Hannover 96. Edmund Malecki and Ludwig Pritzer also played here. They sensationally won the title with Hannover 96. They won against Schalke 04 in 1938.

Currently, five teams play in the adult division. SV Borussia Hannover also has its own referees. SV Borussia Hannover is more than a club. It is a community. It is a family. It’s a place where memories are made.
