How many people do you think lived in Phuong Thanh Phuoc in 2021? The answer might surprise you. This is Phuong Thanh Phuoc a ward in Tan Uyen Town in Binh Duong Province Vietnam. It’s a place rich in history though not immediately obvious from its current state.
Phuong Thanh Phuoc wasn’t always a ward. Once it was a much larger commune called Thanh Hoi. In 2004 the government issued a decree. This decree significantly reduced Thanh Hoi’s size and population. Much of its land and people were incorporated into the newly formed Thanh Hoi commune.
The remaining portion of Thanh Hoi became Phuong Thanh Phuoc. This happened in 2013. The government’s decision formalized the ward’s boundaries. It established Phuong Thanh Phuoc as a distinct administrative unit. In 2021 Phuong Thanh Phuoc had a population of 12339 people. That’s a significant reduction from its previous size. It occupies an area of 8.05 square kilometers. This translates to a population density of approximately 1533 people per square kilometer.
