What if I told you that a beacon of faith stands right here The Church of Pentecost, Buoho Central English Assembly? It is more than just bricks and mortar. This is a place where lives are touched and spirits are lifted.
The Church of Pentecost is part of a larger story that began with Pastor James McKeown. He was an Irish missionary. In 1937, he arrived in Ghana which was then called the Gold Coast. He came to help a group of believers. This group was of the Apostolic Faith.
Over time, disagreements arose. These disagreements were about divine healing. The group split in 1939. This led to the Christ Apostolic Church and the Apostolic Church, Gold Coast. The latter grew significantly under Pastor James McKeown.
In 1953, a crisis occurred. This led to the founding of the Gold Coast Apostolic Church. Pastor James McKeown led this new church. When Ghana gained independence in 1957, the church changed its name. It became the Ghana Apostolic Church.
Conflicts continued. Ghana’s President Dr Kwame Nkrumah advised the church to change its name again. He wanted to promote peace. So in 1962, the church became The Church of Pentecost.
Here at the Buoho District Central Assembly, the church building was dedicated on August 4, 2019. Apostle Michael Collins Asiedu led the dedication. He was assisted by Pastor Dominic Akyea Mensah. The building cost GH¢ 449,733.88. Grants from the Headquarters and the Area helped fund it.
The District Chief Executive for Kwabre South was also present. His name is Hon. Christian Adu-Poku. Overseer Anthony Apedido reported on the event. The Church of Pentecost, Buoho Central English Assembly is more than just a building. It represents a journey of faith. It embodies the spirit of community. It shows the power of dedication.
