Niederhöchstadt bahnhof became a junction station on December 22, 1970. A shuttle service began between Niederhöchstadt and Schwalbach Limes station. This was the first section of the new Limes Railway. Nearly two years later on November 6, 1972, the line extended to Bad Soden. Before this, Bad Soden only had a rail connection to Frankfurt-Höchst via the Soden Railway. This railway is now the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund line RB 13.
Since May 28, 1978, the Rhine-Main S-Bahn has served Niederhöchstadt bahnhof. Line S3 operates over the Limes Railway. Line S4 runs over the Kronberg Railway. Initially, they only went to Frankfurt Central Station. Later, they were extended to Langen (S4) and Darmstadt Central Station (S3). However, since December 2024, both lines terminate at Frankfurt South.
Today, Niederhöchstadt bahnhof is served by S-Bahn lines S3 and S4. These lines run from Bad Soden (S3) and Kronberg (S4) to Frankfurt Central underground station and Frankfurt South.
