The Berliner Haus Sculpture is located on Tauentzienstrasse, near the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church. If you position yourself just right, the sculpture frames the church perfectly. The sculpture was created in 1987. This was two years before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Berlin was celebrating its 750th anniversary. West Berlin commissioned artists to create sculptures for Kurfürstendamm. The Berliner Haus Sculpture, created by Brigitte and Martin Matschinsky-Denninghoff, was one of the chosen pieces. It features four chromed nickel steel tubes. They reach skyward, almost touching but never quite making contact. This design symbolizes the divided city of Berlin.
