The Edith M Fox Branch Library opened in 1917. It was a significant addition to the Robbins Library system.
The building you see today though wasn’t the original. In 1965 a generous bequest from Edith M Fox allowed for expansion. Construction finished in 1969. The library bears her name a testament to her generosity. This branch offers a wide variety of resources. Fiction and nonfiction books cater to all ages. Newspapers magazines DVDs and large print books are all available.
Children’s programs are a highlight. Story times and sing-alongs are regularly scheduled. The library isn’t just for books. In 1994 it became a community center. It’s a place where people gather. They connect share ideas and build community. The library even faced challenges. It closed briefly in the late 1980s due to economic issues. Arlington residents rallied though. A referendum passed. Additional funds secured the library’s reopening.
