“Picture this” It’s 1956. The Land Lot 104 Plaque is erected. This area was once known as Collier’s Woods. It was part of George W. Collier’s ante-bellum plantation. He lived from 1813 to 1903.

The Land Lot 104 Plaque marks a spot with layers of history. Clear Creek P.O. likely stood within this land lot from 1831 to 1839. The stream flowing across it gave the post office its name. Old Montgomery Fy. Rd. also traversed this land.

Fast forward to July 18, 1864. The Land Lot 104 Plaque is near the southern boundary. Confederate forces dug in here. This was part of Atlanta’s outer defense line. Two days later on July 20, Confederate troops advanced north. Walker’s and Bate’s divisions of Hardee’s Corps attacked Federal forces. They were posted near Collier Rd. This was the Battle of Peachtree Creek. The fighting stayed west of Clear Creek.

The Land Lot 104 Plaque stands on West Peachtree Street at WSB Studios. It marks a place where plantation life. Postal service. And Civil War battles all converged. This plaque tells a story. It’s about land. Conflict. And the passage of time. It connects us to the people who shaped Atlanta. It reminds us of the events that unfolded here. It is more than just a marker. It is a portal to the past.
