The Heritage Society, established in 1954, has painstakingly preserved these echoes of the past. They saved the Kellum-Noble House, built in 1847, from demolition. This act sparked the creation of Heritage Park. This house stands as the oldest surviving building in Houston. Step back in time and explore ten historic homes and buildings. The Kellum-Noble House offers a glimpse into mid-19th century life. Discover the stories of the families who resided in these homes. Learn about Reverend John Henry Yates, an emancipated slave and Baptist minister, and his family in their 1870s home. Explore the Fourth Ward Cottage and learn about the German immigrant family who lived there in the late 1800s. The Museum Gallery, free to all, houses permanent and rotating exhibits.
