The story of Stover Strand is rich. The area has been settled since the Bronze Age. Stove was first mentioned in 1162. For a long time, it was just agricultural land. After World War II, Hamburg residents sought recreation here. They arrived by Elbe ferry from Altengamme. That ferry ran until 1965. Tourism steadily increased from 1950. People initially camped on the Elbe meadows. Later, camping extended behind the dike. The area was divided in the 1960s. A dike was built in 1980/81 for flood protection.

Today, Stover Strand International boasts a wide array of amenities. There are restaurants, a fresh market, and a boat harbor. Of course, there is also that sandy beach. Guests consistently rate the friendliness and location highly. They also like the food. You can choose from nature spots or the main area.

For those seeking activities, Stover Strand Camping offers plenty. Many guests recommend cycling and relaxation. Sightseeing, fishing, and swimming are also popular. You could try motor boating, hiking, or kayaking. Even sailing is an option.

Culinary delights await you here. There is fresh bread in the morning. You can get homemade cakes in the afternoon. Enjoy seasonal cuisine at the restaurant or sundowners at the beach club. A market provides everything a camper could desire.

Some pitches sit directly on the Elbe River, in front of the dike. Every year, before the season starts, the staff sets up 165 power columns. They also set up mobile washrooms, beach club, and beach baskets. It is all for your comfort.
