Founded in 1983 The Parish School stands as a testament to the vision of Robbin Parish. A speech-language pathologist she created a haven for children. These children possessed average or above-average learning potential. However their language learning or communication differences challenged them in mainstream schools. The Parish School was their solution.

Initially The Parish School started small with just six students. It was located at 11059 Timberline a much smaller space than its current home. The school’s growth was remarkable. Its expansion reflects the increasing need for specialized education for children with communication and learning differences.

In 2005 The Parish School moved to a sprawling 17-acre campus at 11001 Hammerly. This new location offered ample space for expansion and the addition of unique features. One of these features is an Adventure Playground. This playground is one of the few permanent Adventure playgrounds in the United States. It speaks to the school’s commitment to integrating nature-based learning.

The school’s dedication to its students is evident in its approach to education. The Parish School employs a team of teachers speech therapists counselors and music therapists. They work together to provide comprehensive support. Low student-to-teacher ratios ensure individualized attention. The school’s approach focuses on communication reading social skills and auditory and language processing.

Tragically Robbin Parish passed away in 2010. However her legacy lives on. The school continues to thrive. It even celebrates a Founder’s Day to honor her memory. In 2011 The University of Texas Medical School at Houston began using The Parish School. It became part of their training rotations for resident neurologists and pediatricians. This further solidifies The Parish School’s reputation for excellence.

Today The Parish School stands as a beacon of hope. It provides a nurturing environment for children. These children learn and grow in ways that were once difficult to imagine. It’s a place where children with learning differences thrive. They discover their strengths. They learn to communicate and connect. They build resilience. The Parish School is more than a school. It is a community a testament to Robbin Parish’s enduring vision. It’s a place where children not just learn but truly blossom.
