Welcome to Grundschule Fuhsestraße in Hannover. This school stands as a pillar of the Leinhausen district. Leinhausen is the smallest district in Hanover. About 3000 people live here.
Grundschule Fuhsestraße is more than just a school. It is a community. Around 290 students attend this open all-day school. Children from diverse backgrounds and religions learn together here.
A team of 73 dedicated individuals supports these children. This includes teachers, pedagogical staff and social workers. Administrative staff and a caretaker also contribute.
The school aims to be a living space. Here everyone is ready to take responsibility. Students learn with and from each other. The work is based on mutual respect. Each person is valued for their unique personality. The school supports students. It helps them develop their individual skills.
The students learn in fifteen different learning groups. The school offers a wide range of subjects. These include German, mathematics and science. It also covers creative areas. There is textile design, art and crafts. Sports include swimming and music. Language lessons are also important. English, Turkish, Arabic and Greek are on the curriculum.
The classrooms are modern and well-equipped. Class trips help to develop independence. They also promote a sense of community. There is a comprehensive learning and support program for everyone. This also takes place in small groups. The school promotes inclusive education on site.
Grundschule Fuhsestraße works with other schools in the district. Two special education teachers are part of the team. The school can use mobile services from special schools if needed. They support gifted students. Students can learn individually in learning workshops.

The “Stiftung Help” runs the all-day program. Students meet for lunch. They practice, learn and play. Participation in the open all-day school is voluntary and free. Lunch is free for those eligible for BuT benefits. Parents register their children on a half-yearly basis.
Cooperation is important. The school is a member of several networks. These include the Herrenhausen-Stöcken school network. It also has ties to the gifted student network. Grundschule Fuhsestraße is also part of the Grundschulverband e.V.. The school works closely with kindergartens in the district. It also collaborates with the associations “s.i.s. e.V.” and “Mentor e.V.”. The “Rucksack-Projekt” of LHH promotes language development. School social work supports children and parents. They help with questions about education. It also deals with participation packages. Cooperation with the police promotes fair behavior.
In 2014, the school won the competition “fair brings more”. Since 2020, it has been a “School with special challenges”. It is an “Excellent Democracy School in Lower Saxony”. Since 2021, it has been working on the Zukunftsschule model project.

In the past, the school even made headlines because the former headmaster successfully sued for overtime pay.
