Originally, it belonged to District 2, a quieter, more rural area. Everything changed in 1997. Binh Trung Tay Ward officially came into being, carved from a section of Binh Trung Commune. It spanned 222 hectares and housed 7,832 residents. This marked a pivotal moment, a shift from tranquil countryside to a burgeoning urban ward. Fast forward to 2020, and another significant transformation occurred. District 2, along with District 9 and Thu Duc District, merged to form the modern Thu Duc City. Binh Trung Tay Ward became a vital piece of this new urban puzzle. Today, Binh Trung Tay Ward covers a modest 2.05 square kilometers. It is bordered by Binh Trung Dong Ward to the east, An Phu and An Khanh wards to the west, Cat Lai, Thanh My Loi, and District 7 to the south, and An Phu Ward again to the north. The population has grown significantly. As of 2021, over 31,021 people call Binh Trung Tay Ward home. This represents a remarkable increase from its humble beginnings. The population density stands at 15,132 people per square kilometer. Binh Trung Tay Ward is more than just statistics and boundaries.
