Overlooking the exhilarating curves of the Jarama Circuit stands the Torre de Control del Jarama. It has witnessed a half-century of racing triumphs and heartbreaks. The Torre de Control del Jarama isn’t just a tower. It’s a time capsule, echoing with the ghosts of racing legends. Originally built in 1967 along with the circuit, the Torre de Control del Jarama has been more than just a place for race officials. Its iconic presence has presided over historic Formula 1 races, including Niki Lauda’s maiden F1 victory in 1974 and Gilles Villeneuve’s tactical masterpiece in 1981, the last F1 race held at Jarama. The tower has also seen the roar of motorcycles, the thunder of touring cars, and even the rumble of trucks. But time took its toll. As the 21st century dawned, the Jarama Circuit, including the Torre de Control, began to show its age. A revitalization project, “Proyecto Jarama 2021”, was launched. The Torre de Control del Jarama was the first to undergo this transformation. The original structure was preserved, keeping its three upper floors intact, while the base was modernized. The renovation breathed new life into the tower, creating multipurpose rooms for events and meetings. The tower now boasts a glass structure with automatic blinds, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the circuit. It is a testament to the circuit’s rich history and a symbol of its exciting future.
