The Lympia cultural center consists of two buildings. One is the former prison. It was built in 1750. The other is the Pavillon de l’Horloge. Construction of this building finished in 1826. Since 2017, it has hosted temporary exhibitions.

Convicts worked on expanding the port. They also maintained it. Conditions improved over time for prisoners. Also improved were conditions for their guards.

In 1826, the Pavillon de l’Horloge was built. It featured a clock tower. Penal functions ceased in 1887. The buildings then served administrative purposes.

Now, restored, the buildings are open for exhibitions. The Lympia benefits from the lively port area. The Place Ile de Beaute is nearby.

The Lympia cultural center has three cultural venues. There is a gallery. The gallery hosts diverse exhibitions. It covers about 250 square meters. It meets accessibility standards. It also protects the artwork.

The Pavillon de l’Horloge has three floors. The ground floor has two rooms. The upper floors have administrative services. One room is dedicated to multimedia.
