A mosque bathed in the soft glow of the setting sun. That is the Yeşil Ahi Cami. The Yeşil Ahi Cami, also known as the Ahi Hüsameddin Mosque, is a true architectural gem of Ankara. It was built between 1349 and 1392 by Ahi Hüsameddin. He was a prominent figure in the Ahi Brotherhood. The mosque’s design is a beautiful example of early Ottoman architecture. Imagine stepping back in time as you enter the mosque. The narthex, originally designed with three pointed arches, has seen changes over the centuries. The arch gaps were filled later, altering its original appearance. Look closely at the north side of the arch piers. You’ll notice a blend of stone and brick, a testament to the craftsmanship of the time. Wooden beams add to the mosque’s rustic charm. Inside the Yeşil Ahi Cami, natural light streams through the windows. The women’s gallery, located on the north side, offers a unique vantage point. The mihrab, a masterpiece of plasterwork, draws your gaze with its stalactite niche. The Yeşil Ahi Cami stands as a testament to Ankara’s rich history. It is a place of serenity and architectural splendor.
