This necessitated the construction of the present structure. The church’s history is intertwined with that of the Paddington Cemetery Brisbane’s first major burial ground. For years before the current building’s construction services were held in the cemetery’s mortuary chapel.

Christ Church Milton is far more than just a place of worship. It served as a vital community hub for generations. It provided spiritual guidance to both the residents of Milton and the inmates of the nearby Brisbane Gaol. It nurtured numerous social activities including men’s societies ladies’ guilds and a girls’ friendly society. It played a vital role in establishing a home nursing service a precursor to St Luke’s Nursing Service. The church’s legacy extends far beyond its physical presence.

The timber used in the construction of Christ Church Milton was sourced from the Esk Valley. This showcases the ingenuity and skill of the builders Lars Anderson and his brothers. Their use of the various timbers is a marvel of design and craftsmanship. The interior features a beautiful crown post roof. The windows display clear glass with a notable group of stained-glass windows depicting Christ and the saints. These elements combine to create a space of quiet contemplation and spiritual resonance. Even the old baptismal font from the first chapel endures here.
