“Berilmu, Beramal, Berbakti” which translates to Knowledgeable, Practice, Devotion is the inspiring motto of Sekolah Kebangsaan Alam Damai. Sekolah Kebangsaan Alam Damai stands proudly in Taman Alam Damai Cheras. It serves as a beacon of education.

Sekolah Kebangsaan Alam Damai first opened its doors in January 2003. The school was built in 2002. Initially, 961 students were enrolled. Most students came from SK Taman Segar. At that time, SK Alam Damai had 24 classes from Year 1 to Year 5. It was the only school in Kuala Lumpur bordering Selangor. The classrooms were named Arif, Bestari, Cerdik, Dinamik, Efektif and Gemilang. Forty-two teachers were there. The school was surrounded by young forest on the left. The front had small shrubs. These shrubs were shortcuts for Seri Perindu residents. Damai Bakti residences were located behind the school. The education institution quarters were to the right next to the canteen.

In 2004, Year 6 classes were introduced. Student and teacher numbers increased each year. Sekolah Kebangsaan Alam Damai also became a temporary home for SK Seri Anggerik. SK Seri Anggerik was still under construction in Taman Len Seng. Lower-level classrooms were used in the afternoon. The temporary administration office for SK Anggerik was next to the bookshop. This room became the Panel Room in 2010.

Sekolah Kebangsaan Alam Damai expanded in 2005. The preschool began operating at the end of Block D. It was originally a Year 1 classroom. New infrastructure was added. These included car garages, “Tangga Kambing” which provided shade by the field, and “Susur Gajah”. “Susur Gajah” was a covered walkway along the front and back fences. An open stage and assembly area were also constructed.

Tun Hj Barudin b Hj Seradi was the first headmaster. He served from 2003 to 2004. Encik Ishak b Ramlee took over until 2007. Pn Jamilah bt Iberahim replaced him in 2008. She served until March 2014. Pn Hjh Zawyah bt Ahmad became the fourth headmaster in April 2014.
