The environment is child-led. Mud, bugs, crafts, and fire lighting spark their imagination. Swings offer moments of carefree joy. A snack is provided because everything tastes better outdoors. Adults meet like-minded people and discover outdoor activities to do with children.
For babies and their carers, there are Wildlings sessions. These offer a sociable and nurturing space for new parents. Parents can meet each other in a relaxed environment. Fireside chats, tea, coffee, and biscuits create a welcoming atmosphere. Parents relax and connect. They enjoy the benefits of time spent outdoors. Sensory activities keep babies busy.
The Wild Place itself is a large, enclosed space designed for wild outdoor play. It hosts land parties and outdoor learning programs. The venue can hold up to 50 people. An indoor hut offers power, lighting, a sink, a fridge, tables, and chairs. There is space for 20 people to sit down. A fire pit adds warmth and a touch of wilderness. An outdoor hand-washing station ensures cleanliness. An outdoor event shelter provides protection from bad weather. Picnic tables and log seating offer places to rest and enjoy the surroundings.
To reach The Wild Place, simply walk down the main entrance path. The fenced, gated space is on your right near the playground.
Remember to dress appropriately for British weather. Waterproof tops and bottoms are recommended. Layers and wellies are essential. Sessions operate in all weather except high winds.
