“Compassion mercy and wisdom.” These words embody the essence of Myosetsuji Buddhist Temple. This temple stands as a beacon of True Buddhism in Flushing New York. It’s a place where individuals seek enlightenment and inner peace.

Myosetsuji Temple is a part of Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism. This denomination follows the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin. He was a True Buddha who appeared in Japan in 1222. Nichiren Shoshu temples and centers exist worldwide. They actively share Nichiren Daishonin’s teachings. Practicing Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism can bring positive changes to one’s life.

The goals are enlightenment and world peace. Individuals seek enlightenment. They also aim to create a peaceful world through True Buddhism. In this world all people can live happily.

Daily practice involves chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo. Practitioners also recite parts of the Lotus Sutra. This recitation called Gongyo is done before the Gohonzon. The Gohonzon is the True Object of Worship.

Myosetsuji Temple is located at 143-63 Beech Avenue. The entrance is on Parsons Boulevard in Flushing. You can contact the temple at 1-718-961-7269. You can also email them at INFO@NSTNY.ORG.

Nichiren Daishonin believed all people could embrace Buddhism. He was born the son of a fisherman in Japan. The 13th century was a time of suffering. Earthquakes typhoons and famines plagued Japan. Nichiren Daishonin vowed to become the wisest person in Japan.

At 32 he realized that Buddhism was being taught incorrectly. On April 28 1253 he revealed Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo. This is the fundamental law to be spread now.

From that moment on Nichiren Daishonin faced opposition. Despite this he continued teaching. His followers included farmers samurai and government officials.

Nichiren Daishonin was exiled twice. There was even an attempt to execute him. But a comet scared the executioner. Even in exile he felt wealthy due to his Buddhism.

Nichiren Daishonin inscribed the Dai-Gohonzon. This was for the peace of all people. He passed away peacefully surrounded by disciples.

Before his death Nichiren Daishonin gave True Buddhism to Nikko Shonin. Nikko Shonin founded Taisekiji Temple. Each High Priest protects the teachings. They guide members in practicing and sharing Buddhism. Chief Priests are sent to temples worldwide. They teach and guide local members.

Myosetsuji Temple continues this mission today. It offers a place to learn and practice True Buddhism. It is a place where you can experience its beneficial power. Remember the words compassion mercy and wisdom as you continue your journey. They represent the heart of Myosetsuji Buddhist Temple.
