Have you ever wondered what a Texas-sized scoreboard looks like? Well, here at Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Space Cowboys, you’ll find out. This isn’t just any scoreboard. It’s shaped like the state of Texas itself, rising almost 100 feet above the field. Constellation Field opened in 2012, originally as the home of the Sugar Land Skeeters. The Astros purchased the team in 2021, rebranding them as the Space Cowboys and making a host of improvements to the stadium. This 7,500-seat stadium isn’t just for baseball. It hosts rugby, soccer, lacrosse, even concerts. Remember those legendary rock shows with REO Speedwagon and Night Ranger, or ZZ Top and Kenny Wayne Shepherd? They rocked this very field. Constellation Field has also seen its share of college baseball, hosting the Southland Conference baseball tournament and the Silver Glove Series between the University of Houston and Rice University. The Space Cowboys aren’t the only professional team to grace Constellation Field. The Houston SaberCats rugby team called it home for a while, utilizing the versatile field for their matches. As you stroll around the outfield concourse, be sure to check out the Kiddie Corral, complete with a splash pad for the little ones. Then grab some brisket-topped barbecue nachos and head over to the Bud Light Ice House or the Karbach Cantina to socialize before the game. And don’t miss Moonshot Alley. It’s free for all fans and offers simulated hitting bays with MLB stadium backdrops. Now, picture this: It’s a warm Texas evening. The aroma of hotdogs and popcorn fills the air.
