Even into the 20th century, Mannheim faced challenges. Bombing during World War II devastated the city starting in 1940. However, Mannheim persevered. The city rebuilt. Today, Mannheim is a vital part of the Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg state. It stands as one of Europe’s largest inland ports.
