A church founded in an apartment clubhouse. Can you believe it? That’s the incredible story of Seacoast Church. Right here before us stands a testament to faith growth and community. Seacoast Church began in February 1988. A small gathering of 100 people met in a Mount Pleasant apartment clubhouse. Pastor Greg Surratt and a team from Northwood Assembly had a vision. They wanted to reach unchurched people in the Charleston area. Their contemporary worship style resonated. The church quickly outgrew its humble beginnings. By 2002 over 3000 people attended weekly services. Expansion requests were denied. Seacoast cleverly used video feeds. They showed sermons at off-site locations. This innovative approach led to the opening of satellite facilities. The church expanded throughout the Charleston area and beyond. Today Seacoast boasts thirteen campuses across South Carolina and North Carolina. In 2019 a new building opened in Mount Pleasant. This impressive facility includes a 2500 seat auditorium. Seacoast continues to thrive. In 2023 they reported a weekly attendance of 14000 people. Their success stems from a blend of accessible worship practical teaching and a strong online presence. SeacoastGO lets members connect with the church from anywhere. Seacoast is more than just a building. It’s a vibrant community. It’s a place where people find God grow in faith and make a difference. This church exemplifies faith’s power to transform lives and communities. It’s a remarkable story of growth resilience and unwavering dedication. It is truly a Charleston treasure.
