Picture this a vibrant Denver community in 1980. A small group gathers for a Bible study. This small gathering becomes the seed for Praise Center Church. It all began with Elmer Gonzales. He asked Evangelist William A. Rodriguez to lead a Bible study for twelve new Christians. These studies transformed lives. Pastor Rodriguez felt God’s call to establish Praise Center Church. This church would spread the Gospel. The first service was held in a renovated home on West Walsh Street. Seventy to eighty people attended. Within three months the home was filled to capacity. This young congregation couldn’t imagine the impact they would have on Denver. Praise Center Church quickly outgrew that space. In April 1981 the church moved to a larger building in Lakewood. It seated around 200 people. Word spread quickly. People’s lives were being changed. The church continued to grow. Soon it needed even more space. By June 1981 Praise Center Church found a temporary home. It was a church facility that seated 500. The building was for sale. In September the congregation learned the building had been sold. They began praying for a miracle. Pastor Rodriguez found a new home for the church. On October 19 1981 Praise Center purchased its own building. This building at 2005 South Lincoln Street became the church’s home for twenty years. It seated 1000 people. It included classrooms and offices. Even this building wasn’t large enough. Praise Center started The Life Development Institute in 1997. It was a non-profit organization. The LDI aimed to educate the community particularly in zip code 80219. God provided a building for the LDI at 1590 South Federal Boulevard. The LDI housed administrative offices television studios and more. The LDI also allowed Praise Center to move again. In June 2001 Praise Center relocated to its current location. This is 3105 West Florida Avenue. The new building increased the church’s square footage from 10000 to 50000 square feet. A Sunday school wing was added in 2005. Praise Center also acquired 3.4 acres of land. This will be developed into a new sanctuary. It will seat over 1200 people. In 35 years Praise Center Church has reached approximately 50000 people. They use evangelism television radio and church services. The church has seen an average of 365 people per year answer the altar call. They accept Christ as their savior. Today Praise Center Church continues to serve the Denver community and beyond. Its story is one of faith growth and unwavering dedication to sharing God’s love. It’s a testament to the power of prayer and perseverance. This church stands as a beacon of hope. It inspires countless individuals through its ministry.
