Could a church have two shepherds? At St Gabriel’s RC Church in Glasgow, it seems possible. This modern structure, built in 1957, hums with a quiet energy. St Gabriel’s isn’t just a building. It’s a living testament to faith, guided by not one, but two spiritual leaders. The parish priest, Reverend Michael Woodford, leads the flock. His title reflects his extensive theological education, a PhB, STB, and DipPT, earned in 1974. Yet, sharing the spiritual load is Reverend John Casey, a resident priest who retired in 1984. His presence adds another layer of wisdom and experience to St Gabriel’s. This dynamic duo shepherds the community, offering different perspectives and approaches to faith. St Gabriel’s RC Church offers a variety of services to its community. Sunday masses include a Saturday evening vigil at 5:00 pm, followed by 8:30 am and 10:30 am masses on Sunday morning. Weekday mass is held at 10:00 am every day except Tuesday. For Holy Days of Obligation, masses are celebrated at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Confessions are heard after the 10:00 am mass on Saturdays and from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm. St Gabriel’s RC Church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a vibrant hub of spiritual guidance and community connection, nurtured by the shared wisdom of its two shepherds.
