South Coast Community Church

From humble beginnings in a Masonic Lodge. South Bay Community Church blossomed. It all started in 1980. Dave and Mary Jones had a vision. They wanted a church in the South Bay area of San Diego County. With just three families and about a dozen people. They held their first service at the Masonic Lodge in Chula Vista. They named it Gospel Light Tabernacle. Every week they prayed for a new location. They prayed at the interchange of Highway 54 and Interstate 805. God answered their prayers. Within a year they moved to this very spot. The ministry was renamed Gospel Light Bible Church. A few years later the church needed more space. They needed room for their growing Christian school. Miraculously they acquired an eight-acre lot. Despite having little money and few workers they built a new facility. This happened in the fall of 1994. In 1997 the church was renamed South Bay Community Church. This better reflected the wider community it served. Dave Jones retired. William and Maddi Frye continue his legacy. They lead and pastor South Bay Community Church. The church continues to grow and serve the community. It is a testament to faith perseverance and God’s unwavering support. South Bay Community Church stands as a beacon of hope and faith. It serves as a testament to a vision that started small but grew into something magnificent. This place is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a living testament to God’s boundless love.
