“Can you hear that roaring sound?” This is Gakubun Junior High School. It is not just any school. It’s a place where champions are made.

Gakubun Junior High School stands as a beacon of education. It stands as a cradle for future stars in various fields. It was founded by Osaka Sangyo University. It has grown into a prestigious institution.

Now imagine the crack of the bat. Visualize the roar of the crowd. Feel the adrenaline. Picture Osaka Toin’s baseball team in 1991. This was only the club’s fourth year. They stormed into the spring invitational tournament. Ace pitcher Yukihiko Wada pitched a no-hit shutout. It was against Sendai Ikuei High School in the first round.

That same year, Gakubun Junior High School won the Summer Koshien national championship. They defeated Okinawa Fisheries High School. The score was a decisive 13-8. Osaka Toin was the 14th school. They won the championship in their first year.

Fast forward to 2008. The baseball team secured its second national championship. They crushed Tokoha Kikukgawa Senior High School. The final score was an astounding 17-0.

Then came 2012. Osaka Toin achieved a rare feat. They won both the spring invitational. They also won the summer national tournaments in the same year. They defeated Kosei Gakuin in both finals. Shintaro Fujinami was the star. He pitched shutouts in the semi-final and final. In the autumn of 2012, Osaka Toin achieved the “triple crown”.

At the 2014 summer tournament, Gakubun Junior High School won again. They defeated Mie High School 4-3 in the final.

In 2018 Osaka Toin won back-to-back titles. It was the Spring Invitational Tournament in Koshien. The team had also won the year before.

But Gakubun Junior High School is more than just baseball. The brass band club was formed in 2005. It quickly rose to prominence. They won gold at the Kansai Brass Band Contest in their first year. They also won consecutive gold awards at the All-Japan Band Competitions.

The school’s soccer club qualified for national championships in 2007. The girls’ soccer club finished as runners-up in 2011. The rugby club won the Spring Invitational Tournament in 2013. The boys’ golf team won the All Japan High School Golf Tournament in 1999.

However, Gakubun Junior High School has faced controversies. In 2007, they inflated numbers of students successful in university entrance exams. In 2015, a slush fund scandal was revealed. But despite these challenges, the school remains committed to excellence.

Many notable alumni have walked these halls. They have gone on to achieve great things. They excel in baseball, soccer, and even entertainment. Sho Nakata and Tsuyoshi Nishioka played on the Japan national baseball team. Sayuri Matsumura became a member of the idol group Nogizaka46.
