The names of Guanghua Avenue and Riyue Avenue come from a famous quote. It is from “Shangshu Da Zhuan Yu Xia Zhuan.” The quote means to constantly strive for self-improvement. It means to be virtuous and carry great responsibilities. This embodies Chinese traditional culture. It showcases Chengdu as a famous historical city. The avenues reflect Qingyang’s modern image.
Riyue Avenue is vital to Qingyang District. It drives economic development. It improves the Su坡, Huang田坝, Cai虹 and Wen家街道 areas. Riyue Avenue also promotes the aviation industry. It boosts economic growth in western Chengdu.
Construction of Riyue Avenue began in March 1994. It finished in October 1997. The total investment was 0.6 billion yuan. In 2004 they invested 15 million yuan to expand it. Road landscaping was part of this expansion. This project finished in December 2004. In 2016, Riyue Avenue underwent rapid road改造. The total investment was 35.7 billion yuan. The改造 covered 5.7 kilometers. The road was widened to 65 meters. A 1.5-kilometer viaduct was built. It connected the second ring road. It extended to Qingyang Wanda Plaza. This project finished on September 30, 2018.
West of the West Cargo Station intersection, a tunnel was built. It runs to Wenjia Avenue intersection. The main line is in the form of a flat addition and under穿隧道. It is about 4.1 kilometers long. After the改造, the traffic lights were removed. This ran from the second ring road to Wenjia场立交. The widest part has 12 lanes in both directions.
Since April 12, 2019, the BRT express bus runs on this road. It is Chengdu’s fifth BRT line. The K5 line serves many areas. These include Wenjia场社区 and the Qingyang Industrial Headquarters Base. It also serves Qingyang Mold Industrial Park. Other areas include Chengdu Women and Children’s Hospital. Finally, it serves Qingyang Wanda Plaza.

In 1958, the predecessor of Chengdu Aircraft Industrial. Co. Ltd., Factory 132, was built in Huang田坝. For over half a century, many aircraft flew from here. These include歼5, 歼7, 歼10 and 歼20 series. Chengdu Aircraft Corporation also makes civil aircraft parts. This includes the C919 and ARJ21. It also makes AG600 aircraft heads. The civil aircraft turnover is over 10,000 units.
Today, Riyue Avenue is home to many enterprises. These include 132, 611, Chengdu Fluid Dynamics Innovation Center and 161. AVIC and other enterprises are here. It is a key area for Chengdu’s aviation industry. It is an important aviation manufacturing base. It is also a civil aircraft research and production base.
In 2022, Qingyang’s aviation industry achieved 76 billion yuan in revenue. This accounted for 60% of the city’s aviation industry. It accounted for 35% of the province’s aviation and fuel engine industry. By 2023, revenue exceeded 88 billion yuan. This was a 15% year-on-year increase.
The area around Qingshui River Bridge enjoys convenient transportation. The “three horizontal and three vertical” road network supports it. Qingshui River and Jiang’an River surround it. A 24-kilometer urban greenway connects them. The area boasts ecological beauty. It includes Wanda Flower Park and Intangible Cultural Heritage Park.
