Laolong, a name echoing through time, vanished from the maps in December 2019. Once a township, Laolong became part of Zhenjin Town. This quiet shift marks a change in the landscape, a blending of boundaries. The details of Laolong’s history as a distinct entity are shrouded in the past. We know that it was a village, nestled within a region rich with history. Perhaps its residents farmed the fertile Chengdu Plain, watered by the ancient Dujiangyan irrigation system. Perhaps they heard tales of the ancient Shu Kingdom and the Three Kingdoms era. Maybe they witnessed the rapid growth of Chengdu during World War II as refugees poured in. Laolong, though now absorbed into another entity, holds a small piece of the grand narrative of this region. Its story, though elusive, adds to the complex tapestry of Sichuan province.
