This is the Phoenix Tower. A 34-story giant. Rising 434 feet above Greenway Plaza. It’s a striking sight. A blend of silver and blue-green glass. It stands as a testament to Houston’s ambitious spirit. Completed in 1984 it quickly became a landmark. A symbol of the city’s rapid growth.

The Phoenix Tower isn’t just a pretty face. It boasts over 629000 square feet of office space. Once home to Trico Marine Services. Their headquarters are now in The Woodlands. However Trico still occupies a smaller space in this building. A fascinating story of corporate evolution. In 2009 a significant portion of their space was subleased. To the law firm Edison McDowell & Hetherington.

The Phoenix Tower’s past holds more stories. It was also the headquarters of Champion Technologies. Then acquired by Ecolab. This led to the formation of Nalco Champion. The consolidation of their operations involved many employees working in this tower.

But let’s not forget that Hurricane Alicia. In 1983. This ferocious storm severely damaged the under-construction parking deck. Concrete and steel rained down onto Buffalo Speedway. A stark reminder of the power of nature. Even against structures as imposing as the Phoenix Tower.

Now owned by Group RMC the Phoenix Tower continues to thrive. It’s more than an office building. It’s a piece of Houston history. A symbol of resilience. A testament to human ingenuity. A place where deals are made. Where careers blossom. And where executives can enjoy a quick round of mini-golf. High above the bustling city.
