Before us stands Xa Yen Vien a small village nestled near the Red River. Its history stretches back long before Hanoi’s modern sprawl. It was once part of Dong Xa a larger entity within the ancient Thu An prefecture.
Xa Yen Vien’s story is interwoven with the threads of major historical events. After the August Revolution of 1945 Yen Vien became part of Tien Phong village. Tien Phong comprised six hamlets including Yen Vien Ai Mo La Cai Dong Kim Quan and Cong Thon.
A significant turning point arrived on February 6 1959. The Hanoi People’s Committee issued Decision No 33-NV. This decision established Yen Vien as its own entity. It separated from Tien Phong encompassing all of Tien Phong’s former hamlets.
Then on April 20 1961 the National Assembly passed a resolution. This formally integrated Yen Vien into the administrative boundaries of Hanoi. The government solidified this integration on May 31 1961 with Decree No 78-CP. It officially placed Yen Vien under the jurisdiction of Gia Lam District.
Xa Yen Vien today is a vibrant community. It boasts a population of over 14000 people. It is a testament to resilience adaptability and the enduring spirit of its people. However this project hasn’t been without its challenges. Local residents raised concerns about the size of the new roads. Some roads were smaller than originally planned. This created issues for the flow of traffic and vehicle movement. The project highlights the ongoing development and the challenges faced by Xa Yen Vien.
