Renfield Residence Hall

Hidden within the embrace of Brandeis University, Renfield Residence Hall stands as a cornerstone of Massell Quad. Renfield Residence Hall, along with Shapiro, Usen, and Deroy Halls, encircles the serene Anne J. Kane Reflecting Pool and the contemplative Albert Yakus Meditation Area. Renfield Residence Hall primarily houses first-year students at Brandeis. It’s part of a vibrant community, overseen by dedicated Community Advisors (CAs) who foster a welcoming atmosphere. These CAs organize events, address student concerns, and ensure a safe and supportive environment within Renfield Residence Hall and the wider Massell Quad. The quad also features a unique space, the Beit Midrash, located on the ground floor of Shapiro Hall. This Jewish study and prayer room provides a dedicated area for reflection and spiritual practice, coordinated by students themselves. Renfield Residence Hall offers a variety of room types, including singles, doubles, and lofted triples. All rooms are single-gender and open into a shared hallway. Room sizes vary, with singles ranging from about 130 to 160 square feet, while doubles and triples offer between 180 and 200 square feet. Beyond the individual rooms, Renfield Residence Hall boasts comfortable lounges on most floors. Students can also access community kitchens scattered throughout Massell Quad and laundry facilities in each building. The bustling Shapiro Lounge, open 24/7, provides a social hub with couches, a large-screen TV, foosball, and ping pong. Renfield Residence Hall, therefore, offers more than just accommodation. It’s a place where students can live, learn, and connect within the dynamic community of Brandeis University.
